I previously worked as a Principal Officer for Liverpool City Council and have over 27 years’ experience of management in sport development and health promotion. Born with a passion for sport & physical activity, I achieved England /Great Britain Junior International vests in1987. I followed my passion for sport, my work life began in 1989 in athletics development, I spent many enjoyable years supporting the National Indoor Athletics events team which took me all around the UK and Europe, before I embarked on my first major project as creator of one of the largest multi-faceted health & fitness programmes in the UK (Sportslinx). I established a unique and collaborative partnership of physical activity delivery and research between Liverpool City Council, John Moore’s University and Public Health. These programmes achieved national and international recognition for their wealth of data and successful work on childhood obesity, fitness and health behaviour and were awarded the European Childhood Obesity Award (ECOG) in 2011. The significance of this work lead to a number of sport, physical activity, dance, nutrition, and weight management interventions being developed across Liverpool catering for over 70,000 residents annually targeting teachers, parents, children and families.
