Amigo Loans offered guarantor loans until 2020 and unsecured loans under the RewardRate brand from 2022.My role at Amigo Loans involves driving projects forward, developing high-quality, innovative and reliable software solutions and mentoring junior team members. Below are some examples of past projects.* Led three developers in the development of REST APIs to integrate with Mambu and Salesforce, allowing us to outsource loan management after origination.* Lead developer on Amigo’s international Azure based loan book, which was managing loans worth 2.3m Euros for Amigo Ireland 4 months after delivery.* Delivered the ability to pay full refunds totalling over £79 million to Creditors as part of the Amigo Loans Scheme of Arrangement.* Added split test capability to the messaging system, which enabled long running communication cycles to have multiple versions, this enabled an increase in sales conversion and a reduction in the number of customers falling into arrears.* Designed and implemented the card payment system, utilising extensive multithreading, which regularly processed £6 million a day.* Extended the direct debit system to facilitate ad-hoc payments along with a communication cycle which enabled customers to get out of arrears and reduced delinquency rates. * Optimized the overnight interest calculations for the loan book improving robustness and reducing the process to minutes instead of hours. Later, enhanced interest calculations and projections to allow for interest caps and retrospectively calculated interest caps for all live loans.* Overhauled the Direct Marketing system providing the ability to create campaigns for particular demographics resulting in an increase in lead conversion.

I undertook a number of mortgage, investment and insurance related projects involving internet and intranet applications, web services, windows services, reporting services, SQL Server, Oracle and AshWin. Examples of which include internet applications enabling intermediaries to produce KFI documents and enabling them to obtain a decision in principle, an intranet application for nominal ledger enquiries which utilised web services and provided reports via SQL Server reporting services. In addition, I developed a windows service which obtained credit history data from Equifax using XML messages over HTTPS and a tool to dynamically create and run DTS packages to transfer tables, data and indexes from Oracle to SQL Server.I also developed and maintained coding standards, mentored new team members and on larger projects lead small teams of up to 4 developers.

PenOp developed and marketed authentication software to businesses and governments worldwide, including the American IRS. Their cross-platform products combined biometrics and cryptography to provide a legally binding link between a signatory, the signature and the document. I worked in the research and development section of the company, developing cross-platform add-on components in Java and C++, and cross-platform signature analysis utilities in C++. I was also called on to assist with the integration of their software into third party products.

At Siemens I was involved with the development of a client-server Bus Control and Information System for Norwich, utilizing generic components, which formed the basis for all the department’s future PC projects. I designed and implemented a majority of the client, which had connections to the main ORACLE database via named pipes and a local Access database for client specific information. After the system was installed, I was tasked with fixing outstanding caveats for both the client and server.I also worked on an upgrade of PREFECT, a multi-user fault management system, written in VB, with a distributed Access database. The system enabled a number of Local Authorities to log equipment faults with contractors via the telephone network.

This work formed part of my bursary placement with Siemens during University vacations and consisted of evaluating VUIT, a product for designing user interfaces based on Xlib and Xmotif and developing a set of Word Basic macros to convert documents from Wordmark to Word.
