About Liz Sweeney

Liz Sweeney is a producer, director, and mother. A proud Latina, born and raised in the Bronx, she received her BFA in acting at Marymount Manhattan College and her master’s degree in applied theater at The City University of New York. Liz dedicated her early professional career to developing intergenerational theater productions in New York City. In 2012, she founded the Park Avenue Theater Company, producing and directing over 30 original productions. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Liz used this setback as an opportunity and found ways to collaborate virtually with over 20 participants. This process led her to develop and shoot her first short, Bridges.This set the trajectory for a career shift, as she decided to transition fully into film production. Since then, she has produced short films Destiny (2022), Shot in the Dark (2022), and Mejor Alla(2022). In August 2023, Liz directed and produced The Road to Lilith, a film about a mother trying to reclaim her voice after receiving a career-ending diagnosis. Liz is committed to lifting underrepresented voices to the forefront of the film industry.
