Explored the transform growth factor β1 (TGF β1) and its receptor function in hematopoiesis using siRNA knock down and small molecule inhibitor for TGF receptor, demonstrated their ability in reversing hematopoietic failure in TGF transgenic mice model and in primary bone marrow samples.2. Performed global epigenetic profiling in primary case of Myelodyplastic syndromes(MDS), correlated it with array CGH, and global gene expression profiling to find novel genes that are epigenetically altered in MDS. 3. Evaluated the role of Smad2/3 proteins in primitive hematopoiesis using mice embryonic stem (ES) cell based model system.

1. Established a xenograft mice model for multiple myeloma and used it to evaluate the cancer therapeutic effect of a human IGF-IR monoclonal antibody. 2. Constructed retroviral/lentiviral vectors to overexpress oncogenes in human cord blood CD34+ cells and mouse bone marrow cells to study their leukemogenesis effect both in vitro by long-term co-culture and in vivo by mice transplantation model.
