• Fundraised nearly $23,000 for the expansion of Suubi Health Center; achieved through an email/social media campaign and by planning and executing three events.• Lived in Budondo, Uganda between January-April 2015 and worked with Suubi, which opened in July 2014 and provides quality, affordable health services to a community of 56,000 people.• On-the-ground work included managing the logistics of construction, establishing a budget for Suubi’s sustainability plan, and enhancing the health center’s administrative systems. • Collaborated with the Suubi team and local leaders to develop and improve healthy community behaviors via a hand-washing campaign (which included an educational component presented at schools and the construction of “tippy-tap” hand-washing stations at 10 homes throughout the village) and the establishment of a Maternal and Child Care Day (where 70+ women received prenatal checks and medicine, 60+ children got free services, and 70+ sets of immunizations were administered. Additionally, our village health workers conducted a discussion with dozens of pregnant women about support received, access and barriers to care, and their previous maternal experiences).• Communicated candid on-the-ground progress and setbacks to a global community of supporters on an email list reaching over 230 people and via a personal blog.
