Working with a team of talented researchers, UX designers and strategists, and fellow Journey Owners to create a best-in-class experience for Vanguard’s Institutional clients. Through a multi-year initiative the team will re-imagine our plan sponsor website to deliver world-class experiences that put our clients first across every interaction they have with us.

Worked with several full service state 529 plans providing marketing support. The team serves a hybrid role that combines internal and external relationship management with marketing strategy and execution. I built and executed individualized, state-specific plans for each state that has partnered with Vanguard to provide marketing services.

As agency head of Maryland 529, I oversaw all aspects of the independent State agency that administers the two 529 college savings plans. My staff of 27 full-time and 8 contractual employees worked closely with our program manager of the College Investment Plan, T. Rowe Price, to help promote college savings across the State. Aside from being the agency spokesperson, I oversaw the functions of financial management, investment management, audit activities, records administration, systems administration and account management, actuarial analysis, and contract pricing. In addition, I maintained mutually beneficial relationships with Maryland 529 Board members, the members of the Maryland General Assembly, and other key stakeholders such as the Governor's Office, County Executives, Superintendents, Federal Legislative representatives, the Maryland Higher Education community, major Maryland employers, and key partners and community organizations. When I was not busy with the above, I remained current with 529 Plan industry practices and regulations and served as the lead representative in the national industry association, the College Savings Plans Network. I also served on the Maryland Financial Education and Capabilities Commission. An exciting addition to my responsibilities included the implementation of the new Maryland ABLE Program. The concept of the ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) legislation was developed from 529 college savings regulations. However, ABLE accounts allow individuals with disabilities to save in a tax-deferred vehicle without being subject Social Security asset limitations. I, also, managed the electronic communications including: monitoring social media; developing web content; formulating email topics, content and design; and executing marketing email schedule. My job wasn't a desk job. I conducted presentations to businesses, trade groups, Federal and State agencies, social organizations and parent-teacher councils explaining complex 529 investment products in simple terms. The groups ranged from 10 to 200 people.I had a team of 2 full-time and 10 contractual employees. In addition, I managed relationships with 27 external marketing partners and our advertising agency.Here are some successes I had in my tenure: Increased enrollments over goal in the Prepaid College Trust by 28% in 2011 and 2012, and 18% in 2013.
