In the BlackBerry Wireless group, I handled a variety of activities, contributing to the development of the team's own 3GPP Cellular modem (LTE/HSPA/EDGE).-Validation/verification of cellular radios and multi-RAT 3GPP protocol stacks against the applicable conformance test cases.-Technical analysis and driving resolution of issues from the physical up through the application layers.-Serving as a point of contact to the test equipment providers and standards development organization representatives in case faults were found with the tests themselves.-Directly supervising 2-3 test team staff and providing guidance to colleagues globally. -Company representation in an international handset certification forum (PTCRB).-Enhancement of test automation tools and processes.In addition to my prescribed responsibilities, I took the initiative to research and prepare six presentations, each covering a different area of technology. These included explanations of parts of the relevant 3GPP and IETF standards, as well as in-depth analysis of test logs and message flow, and sections on optimal use of debugging tools. These were well received by a team of colleagues.

RIM Testing Services (RTS) is BlackBerry's ISO 17025-accredited test laboratory, responsible for regulatory type approvals such as FCC & R&TTE; and industry certifications, including GCF & PTCRB, for BlackBerry's smartphones, tablets, and accessories.As the lead for the 3GPP Compliance team, I supervised between 10-15 staff responsible for GCF & PTCRB testing and filing for approvals. Specifics included:-Ensuring correct test execution and driving troubleshooting across multiple radio access technologies (2G,UMA/GAN, HSPA) and applications (MMS, SUPL, Java).-Overseeing maintenance of the laboratories, equipment, and contributing to the group's quality system.-Representation in PTCRB, an international handset certification forum.-Review and compilation of test reports and filing of documentation packages.-Hiring, coaching, teaching, and building up the skills of team members.
