The name of my doctoral thesis is “Temporal and spatial turnover of freshwater diatoms - Implications for bioassessment”. The focus of the first subproject of the thesis was on whether specific species traits and species local abundance and regional distribution affected temporal occurrence of diatom species. I analyzed data of threatened finnish species based on the IUCN Red List Index and carried out biodiversity investigations of agricultural lands´ buffer zones. I counted butterflies in the buffer zones with a line counting method. The butterfly study was part of the Follow-up study on the impacts of agri-environmental measures in Finland (MYTVAS).
