At this role I built our new infrastructure using Kubernetes. It's cheaper, auto scalable and more reliable than our previous one.Some of the work includes:* Spinning up new Kubernetes clusters for our applications in AWS.* Setting up auxiliary services to ensure the cluster stays healthy and always available.* Implementing a custom auto scaling solution. This solution calculates the queue time of all requests received by the app and auto scales accordingly. Since we are using a container based infrastructure, this means very fast response to increased throughput.* Making sure our apps can move to the new infrastructure with zero downtime by using weighted routing.* Setting up a streaming pipeline using Kinesis, S3 and Elasticsearch.

Working on a fairly large 10 year old Ruby on Rails monolith. Some of the work I've been doing:* Building new endpoints for the public API and maintaining old ones* Improving the web UI* Implementing new features, from the backend to the frontend* Finding and fixing performance issues in the application* Improving our code base by shipping clean, tested and maintainable code. At the same time, making sure our maintainability doesn't decrease by writing actionable and sensible code reviews.* Monitoring and maintaining our AWS stack, making sure everything is running smoothly. The stack includes Elasticsearch, Redis, Memcached and MySQL. Eventually we moved from MySQL to Postgres.
