I was brought in as the "expert"​ for managing document requests. I wrote the process and procedures for the regulatory departments to create efficiencies and consistency in responding to legal holds, document collections, reviews and production for a defensible and repeatable process as well as protecting confidential and sensitive information throughout the corporation. I also conducted national training and provided on site assistance to the state regulatory departments. After my roles in Legal and Regulatory, I started my own company and SBC Communications became my client. I've always had a passion for what I do.

    This position was an exciting opportunity for me and eventually allowed me to start my own eDiscovery company. I was able to develop best practices and workflows for eDiscovery (prior to eDiscovery) being a common term. During this period of time, SBC Communications began to merge the "baby bells" back into the power house of AT&T. The DOJ, FCC and state regulatory commissions, as well as other telecommunications providers, were adamantly opposed to the idea. It was an extremely litigious and document intensive environment dealing with highly sensitive corporate data (customer information, trade secrets, intellectual property, etc.). I was responsible for document collections, protecting sensitive corporate data, document productions, coordinating with the regulatory departments on their filings, and preparing for hearings for the DOJ, FCC and state public utility commissions. This environment honed my skills in managing a team, negotiating with internal clients and outside counsel, and team building. My next step would be in the regulatory environment to assist with coordinating a national regulatory response team and creating corporate-wide training in this area.
