Luca M. Munari started his career in 1986 as clinical research assistant at the National Neurological Institute “Carlo Besta” of Milan, and developed in the field of neuro-oncology and cerebrovascular diseases until he became co-director of Neurology clinic at Policlinico San Marco at Bergamo (Italy) in 1991. In 1995 he left clinical practice to join Schering-Plough Co. (Italy) as Manager, health economics and institutional affairs. Since 1998 L.M. Munari has held management positions in the healthcare sector: Director Health Economics in a private hospital trust, Director healthcare planning and purchasing in a Local Health Authority, Medical Director in a second opinion company based in Milan. After accomplishing a full mandate as the Chief Medical Officer at Niguarda Ca’ Granda Hospital of Milan, he was hired as General Manager of SAPIO Life, a leading provider of hospital and home care services. He left in 2011 to start innovative businesses in the field of sustainable healthcare: Accura, a disease management company providing telemedicine services to about 60,000 chronic patients and Respitalia, a consulting company developing cost-effective services in long-term care for respiratory and neuromuscular diseases.L.
