I am a data scientist and engineering leader with over 10 years of experience. I have a Ph.D. in computational biosciences and specialize in data engineering and machine learning as well as data science, visualization, and data harmonization. For my doctoral thesis, I developed frameworks using natural language processing and deep learning to automate harmonization and integration of unstructured and structured data for risk prediction of cardiovascular disease. I currently serve as the CTO of Axiom Health, a start-up in med-tech, which integrates diverse health data and uses AI to provide more accurate insights and analytics for medical device companies. At Axiom health, I mentor and lead both the software engineer and data teams. I have implemented Agile project management, optimized the software development life-cycle to deliver sellable products within tight-timelines, and optimized the company’s tech architecture. I also manage compliance, cyber security, and integrations for the company. Prior to Axiom Health, I worked for the American Heart Association (AHA) where I led the data science team as well as the strategic and functional development of the AHA’s Precision Medicine Platform- a cloud-based environment designed to facilitate analyses using medical and ‘omic data, improve collaboration, and provide access to high performance computing. As part of my role at the AHA, I led efforts in creating digital and software solutions for a variety of lifestyle and health related challenges including partnering with Verily to develop digital solutions for Project Baseline and working with the Rockefeller foundation on the Periodic Food Table Initiative.
