About Liam O'Brien

As a PhD Candidate at Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS), I am passionate about studying and fighting anti microbial resistance (AMR) in the general population, using wastewater analysis and surveillance as a novel and innovative approach. With a background in nursing and a graduate diploma in mathematics and statistics, I have the skills and knowledge to apply data science techniques to this complex and urgent global health challenge.I have over 15 years of experience in both the business and health service industries, with management level roles and a collaborative approach to change management processes. I have also demonstrated excellence in ethics, statutory compliance, financial budgeting, adult education, and mentorship. I have presented my research at international and local conferences, and received an award for commendable presentation at the Queensland Mass Spectrometry Symposium.
