CurrentOne of the greatest success factors in one's career is leaving a living legacy. I have been blessed and fortunate to have had a long and very rewarding career with Zutari and its predecessors, Aurecon, Africon and before that, Van Wyk and Louw. All of them the leading Consulting Engineering companies at the time. Currently I contribute to the continued success of the businesses I have led and helped create by being there as a mentor and trusted advisor, reinvesting the wisdom gained from 36y experience in the consulting engineering industry. It is rewarding to see years of leading by example and active coaching manifested in a next generation of outstanding leaders, colleagues and friends. Being free from the day-to-day grind of managing a large business full of professional engineers, I have found that working part-time allows me to have more time to contemplate, analyze and strategically invest where it matters most, in the people that make a business what it is. The experience and reward of building a business from scratch, challenging the status quo with new approaches to old problems and inspiring teams of professionals to realize success in difficult times have been very rewarding. In the process I have been involved in many transitions, mergers, buy-outs etc. of many professional companies and love to apply this knowledge gained in setting businesses up for scaling or growing into successful enterprises.
