I am a recent WashU graduate with a B.A. in Sociology + minors in Business of Social Impact and Legal Studies. During my three years at WashU I prioritized experiential learning through legal internships at ArchCity Defenders and Missouri State Public Defenders. The many stories I heard from jailed clients in these positions inspired my sociology thesis research project that received top honors: "The Conceptual Clarification of Jail and Prison: Analyzing Experiences of Incarceration." My current role as an AmeriCorps VISTA on the social services side of the Missouri State Public Defenders office has been a natural transition to begin my career of public service. This year I will also be applying to law school to find an institution where I can begin to pursue my passion of advocating for the rights of incarcerated people.
