Recent major philanthropic developments include the $20 Million gift for the Giant Magellan Telescope to rename the UA Mirror Lab; a $50 Million estate gift from Agnese Haury to support science, the environment and social justice; a $2.5 Million endowed chair for chief Scientist Peter Smith, the leader of the UA Phoenix Mars mission; a recent gift of $30 million to establish a 10-year program at the Biosphere2 complex in Oracle; a gift of the Biosphere 2 valued at $100 million; and a $9-million gift to build a Tree Ring Archive Building to honor former director Bryant BannisterThe College is the leading college in the United States as measured by the National Science Foundation (NSF) in research expenditures. From a development standpoint, the College of Science development organization consistently has been one of the top producers on the entire University of Arizona campus (including athletics and the medical school).

Responsible for all aspects of philanthropy for the University of Arizona Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) program. ICA sponsored 14 NCAA men's and women's programs with over 450 student athletes. We coordinated and led a major $35M capital campaign which included the addition of the Eddie Lynch Pavillon, Jim Click Hall of Champions, Kasser Family Medical Treatment Facility, and the Bill and Shirley Estes Strength Training facility.

Was the Senior Markets Manager for the AT&T Computer Systems Division responsible for sales, procurement, delivery and repair and maintenance for the Southern Arizona Territory. Named the Western Region Sales Vice President Award winner for a major sale to one of the fastest growing companies in the US as noted by Business Week magazine. In addition, our territory was recognized for one of 3 featured sales in the United States, a mission critical 911 application to the Pima County Sheriff Department.

Head Football Coach of the Malipiero Bologna Doves in Bologna, Italy. This was an American football team that played in the highest classification (Serie A) of the Federation of Italian-American Football (FIAF). Our team finished with a 12-2-1 record and played in the semi-finals of the national championship, losing to Milano 20-12. The team led the nation in a number of statistical categories. I was able to recruit on three weeks notice during the Christmas holidays -- two American players (one from Arizona State University and the other from the University of Massachusetts) and a head coach from a small college to come as my assistant coach.

Worked as an assistant on Larry Smith's football staff at the University of Arizona. We had incredible success, in spite of the fact that the program was decimated from serving an NCAA probation penalty caused by the previous coaching staff. During our tenure, we produced three consecutive winning seasons, played in three bowl games (Sun Bowl, Aloha Bowl, Coca-Cola Bowl in Tokyo) and beat arch-rival ASU three times. I coached defensive line/outside linebackers and was responsible for all special team specialists (kickers, punters and snappers). A number of my players were recognized as All-PAC-10 and/or All-Americans and I also had a number of players go on to play in the NFL.
