Drilling Engineer - Western Canada Drill Team
• Supported two active rig lines in the Cardium tight oil play
Lead Completions Engineer - Western Canada Drill Team
• Designed and executed the completion program for an 8 well shale gas pilot project• Identified issues with lease space accommodating completions equipment. Lead multi-functional team to determine fit-for-purpose solution in order to enable successful project execution.• Completed technical and commercial evaluations of $50M frac/coil/wireline integrated contract• Completed technical evaluation of perforation strategy options to meet design and project team objectives. Recommended strategy to minimize risk of screen-out; resulted in 96% of fracs being successful the first time.• Drove decision to eliminate use of frac sleeves through detailed technical reviews• Developed detailed plan to retrieve a wireline fish left in one of the wells. Evaluated multiple options using decision tree analysis; gained alignment within multi-functional team on plan to strip completion out of hole using freeze plugs as barriers. Resulted in successful retrieval of fish.
Subsurface Engineer - Cold Lake Thermal Heavy Oil Field
• Designed the completions for a proprietary heavy oil pilot project• Developed quantitative process for targeting pre-steam casing inspections towards wells with conditions indicative of casing integrity issues• Worked with multiple vendors in order to develop casing patch technology for extreme operating conditions (high temperature, high pressure). Provided direction on equipment design, developed qualification procedures, and provided on-site quality control during testing.• Developed and implemented a best practice to prevent failures on seismic monitoring wells. Designed and conducted an experiment to test proposed failure reduction method, created analytical wellbore model to test effect on current operations, and implemented new operating practice to eliminate the failures root cause. No seismic well failures have occurred since new practice implemented and resulted in savings of approximately 2.0 M$/year.• Designed and implemented the “Artificial Lift Bad Actor Program”, a systematic process to identify wells with high artificial lift repair costs and develop solutions to reduce failure frequency. Program resulted in 1.7 M$/year reduction in operating expenses and gained interest globally within ExxonMobil as a result of pilot conducted in Cold Lake.• Programmed numerous completions and workovers and provided direction to service rig personnel on an ongoing basis
Field Production Engineer
• Developed an all-inclusive pipeline integrity risk assessment and inspection program which allowed us to resume operations after having production shut-in by the regulator• Implemented a system of shooting fluid levels on a set schedule, tracking, and monitoring bottom-hole pressures in order to maximize production• Maximized production for over 70 wells• Designed ESP and sucker rod pumping systems• Managed cathodic protection and chemical inhibition programs• Participated in a facility shutdown
