Loic Barret Email and Phone Number
I have been working in the space industry since he graduated from the University of Maryland in 2016. I currently work at a small engineering company that specializes in separation systems for small satellites and cubesats. Working at a small company, I've had to wear many hats and take on projects where I started with little prior experience. My responsibilities have included assembly, environmental testing, program management, inspection, R&D, customer training and support, and process improvement. This has groomed me to be a well rounded engineer with skills in a lot of different areas. While working a full time job, I decided to go back to school to get my masters of engineering in robotics at the University of Maryland. During my studies, I gained valuable experience in software development, mathmatical modeling, path planning algorithms, controls, and robot vision. Some of my favorite projects include simulating an industrial kitting robot, simulating a COVID test collection robot, and creating a neural network to categorize pictures of different kinds of fish. I have become passionate about robots, particularly in automation of complex processes.I hope to bring my robotics knowledge to the space industry in an effort to advance the efficency and lower the cost of spaceflight. I believe the use of robotics can bring down the cost of manufacturing and assemby while also decreasing lead times. In the past, most satellites were one off designs and the use of robots couldn't be justified. Satellite constellations such as SpaceX's starlink satellites have recently become more popular. With the high volume of production for such satellites, the space industry should be taking advantage of robots the same way other industries such as the automotive and shipping industries do. With my education in robotics and my hands on experience with space hardware, I believe I will be a valuable asset when it comes to bringing new technology to the space industry.Check out my GitHub page for some of my projects: https://github.com/Lbarret
