In 2015, Fredrickson Communications—a company I founded in 1984 with partners Dave and Joyce Lasecke--celebrates its 30th anniversary. FredComm is noted for creating custom learning solutions for business initiatives. With this celebration, I’m departing the company to pursue other interests. Recognized by my colleagues and clients as a visionary connector, I started founding executive peer groups about 20 years ago. These include groups directed at women’s entrepreneurship and personal growth as well as those focused on corporate business issues. I am a strong supporter of networking as a success factor in life.I'm fortunate to have an educational background in both the arts and sciences. This broad education informs my thinking and decision making.I love start-up activities. Examples include:• Initiation of the Minnesota Chapter of Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) (www.arcsfoundation.org/Minnesota) in 2008. • Organization of “Citizens Minding the Skills Gap”—a team of corporate, educational and public policy individuals taking action to help close the skills gap.• Initiation of The Woman’s Business and Professional Forum at the Minneapolis Woman’s Club.• Creation of the curriculum for a technical communications certificate for the management Center at the University of St. Thomas.Writing, editing, content creation and teaching are fundamentals for me. Whether it’s development of sophisticated online learning products, directions for operation of a nuclear submarine or power plant, or "how to" materials, I’ve produced these products for many Fortune 500 corporations, the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Idaho National Laboratory and various Colleges and Universities. My focus now is on connecting people for business purposes, sales and marketing, social issues and consulting about entrepreneurship. In addition, I’m focused on personal writing and publishing.
