ARCA X evolved from Archipelago ECN. Acra was one of the original 5 Electronic Communication Networks (ECN) that were given no action letters to allow them to enter customer orders directly into the NASDAQ market in 1995. As such Arca pioneered the electronic revolution that resulted in the end of the traditional specialist system of trading stocks and options. ARCA X finally merged with the NYSE and sealed the transition to electronic execution of NYSE shares. Highlights: • Opened Archipelago Europe as General Manager, During 3 year assignment in London increased order flow from zero executions to 4 M shares executed per day. • Developed the CBOE into the first large liquidity pool for Acra and 1 Million shares executed per day.• Managed the original large accounts which included ITG, Mayer Schweitzer, Jefferies Co, A B Whatley, Goldman Sachs, Knight/Trimark, J P Morgan, Hull Trading, Stafford Trading, and O’Connor. These firms represented 75% of revenue as Acra started from zero too $600 M in revenue.• Developed the San Francisco market through interaction with the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange.
