Dr. Williams is a Senior Toxicologist at Kimberly-Clark Corporation in the Global Product Safety Department (GPS). In that capacity he provides hazard identification, exposure characterization, safety assessment and product safety guidance for medical device and surgical supply products including medical gloves, surgical gowns, masks, drapes and packs, surgical solutions, sterilization packaging, closed suction systems, endotracheal tubes, enteral feeding tubes and oral care, gastric lavage, pain management and patient temperature management devices, plus gastrointestinal endoscopy, diagnostics and device accessories. He also serves as the primary GPS representative on several multifunctional project teams for the research, development, and commercialization of medical device and/or medical supply products as well as being responsible for timely product safety-related deliverables. His duties also include effectively authoring and communicating toxicology information, safety position papers and human health risk assessments to internal and external technical experts as well as program and business unit managers. In addition he is charged with leading and/or managing the design, monitoring and interpretation of in vitro / in vivo toxicology or clinical safety studies conducted under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or Good Clinical Practices (GCP). As well as documenting, authoring and disseminating human health safety (risk) assessments taking into consideration identified hazard and patient or user exposure according to intended product use or foreseeable misuse.

Dr. Williams is a consulting toxicologist at Burdock Group. In that capacity, he evaluates toxicology/exposure data for consumer products/ingredients, foods, food additives and contaminants to create comprehensive assessments of risk. To accomplish those evaluations, he calls upon his skills in electronic literature searching, interpretation of toxicology data (ADME, acute, subchronic, chronic/cancer, reproductive, developmental, mutagenicity and pharmacologic actions) and exposure assessment (via quantification of consumption from food or human exposures to consumer products) to generate risk characterizations. Through these cumulative activities, he generates Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) dossiers and/or notifications, food additive petitions, and client technical reports for regulatory submissions. In addition, his duties also include the placement and monitoring of toxicity studies with contract research laboratories including review and revision of study protocols and preparation and submission of scientific manuscripts and trade press journal articles for clients.
