I was responsible for updating the team’s database everyday so that we could trade on accurate information, avoided mistakes.I studied few investment vehicles, such as credit derivative swaps (CDS) and presented them to my colleagues to show my understanding of the investment instruments. I reckon this is the most beneficial to me as it allowed me to understand the mechanism of investment vehicles - how many parties are involved and understand their investment views from interpreting their investment decision. In addition, the study of correlation of different indices increased my background knowledge of the investment world, as data never lie to us, only revealed the history and fact. Having a strong background let me to make better investment judgment going forward. Show less

Also, I was responsible to produce monthly report at the beginning of each month, and this process involved the use of visual basic, SQL and other Microsoft programs. This 12 months placement with HSBC insurance was very crucial to my career development because it was my first time to do some professional programming and most of the programs are widely used in other companies and industries. Therefore, I am still greatly benefited from the experience I had with HSBC insurance. Show less

I was there for two months, working in credit processing and approval unit. I was responsible for data entry, verifying applicants’ information and contacting applicants about their applications. It was my first job in finance industry; therefore every part of this experience was crucial to me. I reckon the most beneficial experience was learning how to report to managers and colleagues. Accuracy is very important as it can avoid double working, increased productivity and efficiency.
