ScaleConf Colombia is a 2-day language-agnostic tech conference about scalability, distributed systems, security, machine learning, DevOps, modern software tools and practices.

• Guide and support a distributed team of 6 to produce yearly events for +400 developers from Latin America, Europe, and the US.• Develop and manage multi-level budgets for worst and ideal case scenarios.- Identify and reach out to potential sponsors, negotiate sponsorships, and continuously communicate to help reach sponsorship goals. • Work with vendors to negotiate and execute contract agreements on the venue, hotels at 3 different cost levels, caterers, internet, videography production, and swag.• Read and learn Colombia’s new tax code related to hotel accommodation to discover foreigners do not need to pay taxes, saving USD$2k from the conference budget.• Collaborate with the design team on developing and strengthening the brand.• Lead marketing campaign efforts through social media, mailing lists, and develop relationships with conferences and local meetups from Colombia and the Latin American region.• Introduce and implement incident reports and processes as part of event staff training.

• Negotiate and coordinate with vendors on the venue, hotel, caterers, A/V, furniture, travel, internet, photography, speaker dinners, and networking events. • Work on logistics, site management, and responsible for sponsor satisfaction during the event.• Founder and board member of Gatherscript, the non-profit parent company of EmpireJS and EmpireNode, created to help through mentorship and finances tech gatherings worldwide.

• Worked with lawyers and accountants for all legal and financial needs, including consulting and partnerships agreements, company registration, and taxes.• Developed financial model, managed payroll, taxes, expenses, and finances.• Reached out to tech groups to build the Hooklift network, brand, and community.

• Fundraised via friends, an Indiegogo campaign, and corporate supporters in Latin America and the United States. Budgeted to cover transportation, snacks, and class outing at networking events. • Collaborated with fellow founders to create branding, marketing outreach, and manage online social presences. • Mentored, connected students to internships opportunities, and encouraged participation in networking opportunities to help them learn to build confidence, create branding, and develop their professional network. To this day, I continue to mentor and support many former Coderisers through their professional lives.

• Contacted local community-based organizations, built relationships, and created a budget with 7 partners to include in the proposal for a $2 million grant for implementing the HealthCare Exchange in the Upper Eastern Shore region in Maryland. This grant became the first HealthCare Exchange award won by Seedco. • Served as a project liaison for national sites, including developing relationships, contract details, data and reporting, and early-stage planning with government agencies, technology providers, and community-based organizations within the Seedco network and expansion targets.• Collaborated closely with the Senior Vice President of Work and Family Supports in developing new strategies for national expansion, including pricing models, marketing of Seedco’s EarnBenefits Online public benefits screening software, and developing the department’s budget forecast.• Researched and provided project support for new and existing sites, including tracking network expenses, managing relationships, and preparing presentations to potential funders, partners, and board members.

• Worked with local businesses, corporate organizations, and private volunteers to provide gifts to 250 on-campus residents and various volunteer participation and recognition events.• Teamed up with department event coordinator to manage The Children’s Village’s two most significant events, the Annual Gala and the Annual Golf Tournament, which included high-profile guests. • Budgeted department accounts, tracked expenses, and fulfilled payments for special corporate events, holidays gifting to all kids on campus, and training events.

• Mentored 30 students during their first summer College Preparatory Program, including team building activities, conflict mediation, and academic performance follow up.

• Connected with foundations, individual donors, media outlets, and other non-profit organizations related to Art for Refugees in Transition mission.• Created awareness of the need and the importance of working with refugees through various specifically targeted events.
