Managing our school’s half-a-million-dollar Innovative School Models Grant through curriculum development and equipment procurement while maintaining a high level of organization and communication with stakeholders. Collaborating with Tyner High School creating seamless pathways for students to follow through grades 6-12.

At the Conservation Genetics Lab I was responsible for keeping detailed records of all projects in accordance with laboratory standards, compiling and summarizing data, monitoring and ordering supplies, and maintaining and operating all laboratory equipment. Additionally, Assisted with the collection and processing of over 7,000 biological samples using DNA/RNA extraction, DNA amplification, genotyping, and scoring of microsatellites.

Managed the testing and results delivery of thousands of biological samples in a BSL-II with a five-day turnaround using DNA/RNA extraction and qPCR while using proper laboratory techniques to minimize contamination risks. Directed outreach projects aimed towards raising risk awareness of disease contraction through tick encounters.

In the Dipteran Research Lab I assisted researchers in all aspects of maintaining and propagating colonies of several species of flies. During my time in this lab I managed the upkeep of the research organisms and maintained the functioning of the lab through organization and supply ordering.
