My role included supporting a team dedicated to; Making a commitment to more efficient site commissioning through advanced planning from multi-discipline subject matter experts; Reducing the heuristic approach to managing complexity in systems completion through standardization and procedure driven execution; Eliminating project groups working in silos through a truly integrated management structure; Mitigating the risk of high costs of delays to project start up by maximizing module yard commissioning; Eliminating poor coordination and data management across Design, Construction / Commissioning through advanced software API’s (Application Programming Interfaces), programs and tools; Creating an approach to advanced planning that is focused on improving commissioning performance, securing the buy-in of asset operators in FEED and early detailed design; Leveraging capability and knowledge of experienced personnel and retaining this expertise through a functional organization structure; Taking a system ownership approach and working with construction partners to effectively manage transitions for schedule recovery in a commissioning environment

While assigned at a Client's office I facilitated technical workshops on early detailed design studies for modification and improvement projects for a major operator in the Canadian Oil Sands. I was also assigned the responsibility as acting deputy site project manager for the site wide installation of a wireless safety and productivity system on a major mining and extraction project. I was responsible for engineering and construction change management for this cost reimbursable project. I held accountability for compiling weekly reports in addition to providing oversight for cost, schedule and risk management for the project as well as acting as an interface point of contact between site crews and the engineering group. We successfully executed the project without a lost time incident and met an extremely challenging start-up deadline.

I was responsibile for coordinating with the Construction Contractor to ensure efficient and safe execution of Mechanical Completion and Turnover to Plant Operations on a major Oil Sands de-oxygenation and tailings project.My role required interfacing with Planning and Construction teams to facilitate the transition from area construction to system mechanical completion.I provided support as an interface with Discipline Leads to ensure that commissioning activities achieved scheduled handover dates. I held responsibility for the review and verification of documentation for handover to Plant Operations.My role included monitoring the development, population and maintenance of the Completions Management System (CMS) database to ensure engineering data was updated in accordance with revision updates of key documents for commissioning. Whilst working on the same facility I was responsible for engaging with engineering teams for the management of RFI's for the schedule critical installation of a tailings barge. This allowed construction and commissioning crews to work to the correct drawing revisions and accelerate work on site meeting the planned launch date.

I was responsible for the management of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and conceptual studies (Onshore & Offshore) at Costain. I was accountable for coordinating discipline engineering activities to deliver decision support packages for the Appraise and Select project phases for a major Oil & Gas Operator in the North Sea. I managed earned value progress against cost and schedule performance indicators for these projects.I also produced business case assessments for Oil and Gas Assets adding value by ensuring the optimum engineering solution was sanctioned for funding.

I completed economic analysis calculations (Life of Field NPV Cost Comparison) for multiple oil and gas assets. I was also responsible for the management and preparation of Front End Screening Study Reports to assist clients in making investment decisions on brownfield modification work scopes.

I served a 4 year apprenticeship and went on to work for a number of engineering contractors for a further 6 years in construction and commissioning. I was fully accountable for the site management of electrical installations on commercial industrial and residential projects including the management of teams of electricians and apprentices.I delivered safety toolbox talks, permits to work and participated in safety audits ensuring company procedures and HSE policies were adhered to achieve zero Lost Time Incidents (LTIs).I developed and implemented materials handling processes to minimise material cost and shortened procurement ordering times.During this time I consistently managed multiple small to medium installation projects, securing continued opportunities and maintenance contracts.
