About Loreen Elbakry

“The great aim of education is not knowledge, but action.” - Herbert Spencer. We live in a world where knowledge can be gained in milliseconds with the click of a button. But if we cannot put our new knowledge into practice, what good is it? I spent over a decade educating learners not just how to read and write well, but how to think critically, ask questions, analyze situations and apply new learning to real-life scenarios. I took pride in reaching my learners in a way that made it easy to push themselves out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves to apply new skills. Yet, after 14 years of teaching, I knew it was time to push myself out of my own comfort zone, and challenge myself to acquire new skills, just as I’d expected from my own learners. Transitioning into the world of instructional design and e-learning development was an easy decision. My passion for teaching has always been rooted in empowering the learner, and to do so now as an Instructional Designer leads to more efficient performance, higher profits, and lower turnover, to name a few. I enjoy every step of the process, from analyzing gaps in knowledge and the learners themselves to designing unique courses that keep those learners engaged so the content sticks. When I am lucky enough to be part of the evaluation process, I revel in the achievements gained through my instructional designs. It’s everything I loved about teaching, without the added stressors that come with being a teacher. I truly am a life-long learner, as cliche as it sounds. As an ID I am thrust into many different fields and tasked with learning new information and domains daily. And that’s where I thrive. I am not too proud to accept critique and apply feedback to ensure my designs align with expectations. As a former English teacher, I am also a skilled communicator, adept at translating complex training topics in a clear, concise manner that matches the learner’s vernacular. As a small business owner, I also have an appreciation for training that can maximize employee efficiency and customer retention. I have designed, developed and even led trainings for members of my team and new customers.I would love to connect about potential job opportunities to continue my ID journey for years to come!
