I support students aged 11-18, presenting with a myriad of psychological challenges. I manage a large and dynamic case load. I plan and implement age-appropriate treatment programmes for students, while working to identify causal and maintaining factors of psychological issues. I keep up-to-date clinical case notes, contact records and anonymised statistics for all students on caseload. I implement strategies from CBT, DBT, ACT & Schema therapy approaches, along with interpersonal counselling techniques in 1-1 and group sessions with students. I evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans through monitoring and feedback from teachers and parents. I also communicate with parents regularly to give support, advice and updates on students’ progress and I conduct family mediation meetings where appropriate. I communicates with external mental health professionals, to ensure support in school for students is consistent with their external treatment goals & plans. I attend Pastoral, Safeguarding and Health Team meetings to consult on individual and wider needs of students. I follow strict safeguarding, ethical & confidentiality policies and procedures in all aspects of work. I support families in accessing external services (psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, educational psychologists, specialised clinics etc.) where the students’ needs go beyond the scope of school counselling. I also engage with the wider school community: presenting talks & workshops to parents, students & staff; organises meetings between therapists from Eating Disorder Clinic & students and parents; volunteers for overnight school trips; and coaches field hockey to students after school. I havecreated and implemented ‘Healthy Minds’ program (based on PERMA model, administered throughout the year) and workshops for Mental Health Awareness Week, to entire student population. I also participate in residential weeks and school trips.
