I am an academic librarian serving The Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. Provide in-person, telephone reference service, and on-line reference service by searching available databases for stable information to use, such as EBSCO searching results, Daniel Library-purchased database access such as Academic Search Premier, and LibGuides created by Daniel Library staff. Designed, created, and maintain two LibGuides on the Daniel Library’s website, entitled “Women’s Studies” and “Coeducation at The Citadel”. Both guides offer researchers introductory access to available sources, primary and secondary source information, history, and contact for further reference. Designed eight multi-tiered displays that provide Daniel Library’s patrons immediate access to materials on current and cultural events, such as National Poetry Month, Native American Heritage Month, Women’s History Month, and woman suffrage.

    Overseeing research into woman suffrage within Virginia, African American women voting trends, and Maggie L. Walker’s suffrage impact.Independently and under minimal supervision traveled to 30 sites within Richmond, Virginia and surrounding areas to research African American woman suffrage rights. Used on-site and online research guides to determine best channels to review documentation relating to desired themes and outcomes. Completely and successfully answered over 70% of the research questions posed by the Maggie L. Walker National Park Service site at the beginning of my internship. Questions concerned themes, notable figures, and events related to the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment and woman suffrage, as well as Virginia’s race relations and political affiliations. Delivered two presentations regarding my research: a 15-minute project overview and 35-minute results presentation. Both were accompanied by power point slides for viewing.Arranged all research results, sources, and leads into a 30-page annotated bibliography, which will be used by the Maggie L. Walker Site to develop further research questions and directives.
