Research carried out in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Entomological Surveillance in Diptera and Hemiptera with the purpose of identifying potential vectors of leishmaniasis(Phlebotomines), a disease that is expanding rapidly in the world.Phlebotomines are small insects belonging to the Order Diptera, Family Psychodidae and Subfamily Phlebotominae, and are vectors of different etiologic agents that affect both humans and animals and among these, protozoa of the genus Leishmania that cause leishmaniasis. The study aimed to conduct a sampling survey of phlebotomic fauna in the tourist trails of the Três Picos State Park (Cachoeira de Macacu- RJ). 379 sandflies were captured and eighteen species belonging to the genera were identified: Bichromomyia, Brumptomyia, Evandromyia, Lutzomyia, Migonemyia, Pintomyia, Psathyromyia, Psychodopygus. Among the potential vectors of leishmaniasis identified, the following species were captured: Psychodopygus hirsutus hirsustus, Migonemyia migonei.
