Profile bio

About John Lorenz

I graduated from the University of Louisville in 2006 with a B.S. Physics (concentration in Computational Physics) and a B.S. in Mathematics (concentration in Pure Mathematics.) Throughout my undergraduate work, I was a member of the Society of Physics students and participated in several outreach programs to bring science to local schools and the community at large. I did an undergraduate thesis based on computation simulation of atomic vapor deposition.Having participated in a couple of REU programs, I was drawn towards hands-on experimental research for post-graduate work and received a PhD in Physics from Purdue University in atomic, molecular, and optical physics in 2014. My thesis topic was photoassociation of LiRb molecules. The research fits into the broader topics of ultracold quantum gases with possible application to quantum computation. I also have extensive teaching and mentoring experience from my graduate school experience as well.In 2015, I began working for The Phased Array Company. The common thread between optics and UT is wave physics. Many principles and equations are common to both fields. I develop and test phased array inspection techniques for metals and composites including the latest in FMC/TFM. These techniques can be applied to aerospace, rail, oil and gas, power generation, and manufacturing fields. I also work on software development so that the latest developments in UT are not restricted simply to laboratory settings but can be applied in the field by real users.

Listed skills include Cross Functional Team Leadership, Process Improvement, Business Process Improvement, Management, and 37 others.
