Lorenzo “Tony” Serrano is a passionate advocate for people experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and mental health challenges. As the Lead Case Manager for a homeless prevention program at St. Vincent de Paul in San Mateo County, he has helped hundreds of people keep their housing and access essential services. He is also the founder of the Yanira Serrano Presente Program, which was established in 2022 to honor his sister, Yanira, who was killed during a mental health crisis in 2014. The program's objectives are to promote transparency, resilience, community mental health support, stigma reduction, and better training for law enforcement.In addition to his work with the Yanira Serrano Presente Program, Tony is also a certified mental health first aid instructor and an advanced social work student. He is a member of several boards and committees, including the Half Moon Bay Latino Advisory Board, the Healthcare for Homeless and Farmworkers of San Mateo County, and the Steering Committee for Mental Health and AOD Use in San Mateo County.Tony is a dedicated and compassionate leader who is making a real difference in the lives of people in his community. He is an inspiration to all who know him, and his work is a testament to the power of hope and resilience.
