Main duties:- Provide technical advice and guidance within the FAO Energy-Smart Agrifood Systems Programme, focusing on renewable energy, sustainability and policy- Analyse environmental/climate/energy policy frameworks and statistics- Assess feasibility and potential impacts of transitioning to renewable energy sources- Technical and policy support for planning, implementing and reporting on national climate plans- Engage in fundraising efforts and participate in project proposal development to support green transition initiatives, leveraging sustainable energy as a key tool in climate change mitigation and adaptation- Facilitate technical knowledge sharing through the preparation of reports, briefings, and technical notes, effectively communicating project activities and findings related to renewable energy deployment in agri-food systems- Provide technical inputs for reports and speaking points and review scientific documents related to energy and climate smart solutions within agrifood systems- Procurement activities, particularly in specifying technical components essential for the successful implementation of renewable energy projects

- Projects related to the energy sector, specifically focusing on the decarbonization of agro-industrial processes, to support the achievement of European climate targets- Bioenergy value chains modelling- Data collection, analysis and handling- Policy analysis related to climate actions within the European context, including frameworks such as the EU Green Deal and the Renewable Energy Directives- Research focused on renewable energy, with a particular emphasis on bioenergy, bioeconomy, sustainable agriculture, sustainability assessment, carbon capture and storage, as well as environmental policy, energy market dynamics, and technology- Development of technical reports, policy briefings

- Sustainability assessment of bioenergy value chains- Preparation of a Sustainability Assessment Calculator Tool (implementing indicators), aimed at assessing the environmental, economic and societal impacts of existing and emerging technologies for biofuels (biomethane, biodiesel, woodfuels, sustainable aviation fuels), in order to support the implementation of European legislative framework and climate objectives- Research and data collecting for database development- Technical support to projects on bioenergy within the wider context of bioeconomy as a key to fight climate change and achieve mitigation and adaptation targets- Project design concerning transformative actions in the bioenergy, agriculture and waste sectors in developing countries. The main activities proposed related to sustainable bioenergy, agro-PV, sustainability assessment through LCA, policy recommendations and capacity development- Involved in the day-to-day activities of the Global Bioenergy Partnership Secretariat (GBEP), e.g. planning and organizing meetings, workshops, draft policy briefs, technical reports, concept notes, talking points, peer review papers to enhance awareness and knowledge on bioenergy within the context of bioeconomy. - Liaise with diverse stakeholders, including scientific committee members, agencies, NGOs worldwide.

- Global customer support, particularly in projects involving computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling- Management and coordination of project implementation and execution, encompassing project schedule and goal coordination, proposal drafting, budget oversight, meeting scheduling, and presentation preparation- Active participation in training sessions- Participation in international conference organization, supervision of student thesis projects- Contribution to client acquisition efforts

The internship was framed in the development of my Master’s thesis. The project was aimed to develop a combustion model of a low-environmental impact engine with detailed chemistry. I presented the results on the occasion of the conference CONVERGE EUC, held in Bologna in March 2018.

I have been working on a project to optimize the thermodynamic and economic efficiency of an existing process for the separation of waste gasses, using Aspen Plus flow-diagram simulation software.
