Roxbury Elementary School

I work with third graders weekly helping them to strengthen their reading skills. This is a volunteer position for Reading Partners, sponsored by Jewish Community Services.

Greenwich, Ct

I assist and interact with the visitors as they come and peruse the Flinn Gallery located in the Greenwich Library. I also facilitate the sale of artists works in the gallery. I work 3 or 4 hour shifts at the most, as a volunteer.

Cos Cob, Ct

I volunteer once a week and assist with whatever department needs my help. I have done market research for them, represented this non-profit company at a trade show at IBM, wrote and edited their silent auction brochure, among other duties.

Greater New York City Area

I began as editorial assistant in 2002 when Flying magazine was located in Greenwich, CT. Shortly after, in 2003 (I believe), I was promoted to assistant editor as the previous one chose to leave Flying. In 2004, Flying magazine moved into NYC. So, for two years, I commuted daily to NYC, until the end of May, 2008. As assistant editor, I was responsible for reading, fact-checking and editing the entire magazine. I wrote the Table of Contents page which highlighted the feature stories by summarizing the entire articles in one paragraph illustrating the salient points. The idea of the table of contents obviously is to catch the reader's eye and get them interested in reading Flying magazine. I also chose call outs and titles for some columns and articles. I wrote, edited and produced the Calendar of Events page, soliciting a photograph from one of the highlighted events of that particular month. I engaged different companies and associations on the telephone to describe their particular event and peak their interest to advertise said event in our publication. I also responded to readers requests and did the necessary research to ensure them an accurate answer to their inquiry. I kept track of the staff's travel expenses and was also involved in working with Accounts Payable so that we invoiced our free-lance writers, columnists, etc. accurately and properly.
