Psychotherapy is a courageous personal journey in which the therapist guides and assists each client through the process of self-exploration with the intention of leading the person toward enhanced self-awareness, acceptance, change, forgiveness and healing. I utilize a combination of theoretical approaches and interventions, combined with compassion and gentle challenge, to help individuals move closer to personal wholeness, mental stability, interpersonal competence and emotional and spiritual maturity. Although trained to work with virtually all mental health challenges and conditions, my areas of specialized focus have been Substance Abuse/Addictions, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cluster B Personality Disorders, Recovery for Loved Ones of those with Personality Disorders, Codependency, Christian Counseling and Sleep Challenges/Disorders. I trained in Disaster Relief Intervention, Rape Crisis Intervention and The Prepare-Enrich Relationship Program for premarital and marital counseling. I utilize Imago Therapy when conducting marital therapy. I have worked with a wide variety of different clientele and treatment populations including children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, elderly, therapy groups and educational groups/classes. In addition, I have provided services in many therapeutic environments and settings such as clinics, private homes, schools, child care centers, nursing homes, day treatment, partial hospitalization programs and inpatient hospital units. I have encountered and worked in every phase of the treatment process from intake to discharge and have had some experience in Utilization Review and Supervision.
