It was 2004 in Colorado when my daughter began kindergarten in our school of choice just as her two older brothers did, not our neighborhood home school. After a few weeks we realized this was not a good fit, so I researched options and we enrolled in an online school. On day one of the online model it was clear that this was a great fit for my children and their individual learning styles, so for the twelve years that followed I was an involved and supportive learning coach and mentor to all three of my children who graduated from K12 online schools.That same year a group of online school parents met on a rainy Friday night at a hotel conference room in Denver to form the Colorado Coalition of Cyberschool Families (CCCF), an organization of dedicated parents who volunteer to advocate for public online schools in Colorado. And so, my passion for online learning and school choice launched as did my advocacy work in the education reform movement on a state and national level.In 2012 my professional career started in the world of virtual education. I served in different capacities with different titles at different online schools, but my roles focused on onboarding students and families, improving levels of student engagement, and ensuring increased engagement leads to improved academic achievement and sustained enrollment.Life happens and when it does it can negatively impact a student’s education. I offer support or help find the wraparound services needed to put that student back on the path to success. I have a clear understanding and passion for building relationships with students and families. Some of my most enjoyable times were in creating opportunities for student engagement, learning, and student connections through my creation of several student clubs, I am comfortable working in a fast-paced ever-changing environment which requires teamwork to meet common goals.I have a passion for working with K-12 students to make sure they have a strong start to the school year and continue that support throughout the school year to a strong finish.
