It was once said that, “The greater the ambiguity, the greater the pleasure.” This comment, I am certain, will not resonate with everyone. For me, however, this quote strikes at the core of what I love to do most – parachute into uncertain and high-pressure situations, generate solutions and lead teams through the fog. As a seasoned EVP & Chief Operating Officer executive-level with an extensive lean six sigma background, I am routinely tapped to stabilize flawed implementations, manage large-scale transformations and guide complex restructurings. In other words, I am sought out to take on challenges others typically didn’t want to pursue.I am a natural problem solver, which gives me confidence in uncertain situations. Dating back to my years in Finance, I would routinely strip problems down to their core elements in order to understand them. I do this because, in my opinion, it is impossible to build solutions if you don’t “call the problem by its proper name”. From there, I would lead multi-disciplinary teams to build solutions that integrated diverse perspectives. I have learned that viewing issues through a variety of lenses is key to finding the right path. Earning my Master Black Belt certification further enhanced my ability to solve problems effectively.All of this is for naught without exceptional execution. Fortunately, my experience as a Supply Chain and OpEx leader solidified my ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, hold others accountable for progress, quantify success and celebrate wins. Recognizing team success cannot be understated as it is regenerative and prepares the team mentally to tackle their next challenge.
