Graduate Research AssistantBrandeis University Jun 2011 - May 2016Waltham, MaI performed an end-to-end project from design of experiment to hypothesis testing yielding current worldwide limits, as of publication. I developed a data pipeline starting from multi-petabyte data on the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid. I performed numerous non-parametric statistical studies using Bayesian methods with highly non-uniform weights and measured selection efficiencies and scale factors, with statistical and systematic uncertainties. I estimated instrumental background with a Matrix Method technique and accounted for charge misidentification using a Maximum Likelihood Estimator. I used a frequentist hypothesis testing framework to establish limits on the theory, accounting for more than 80 potential sources of uncertainty. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantBrandeis University Aug 2012 - Dec 2012Waltham, MaI graded for two courses - graduate-level Quantum Mechanics I and undergraduate Quantum Mechanics II and held office hours for both courses. -
Atlas Member And AuthorCern Jul 2011 - Jul 2015Meyrin, SwitzerlandI developed and implemented a novel technique to measure misalignment of muons using a Theil-Sen estimator, which improved all ATLAS analyses with more accurate Monte Carlo simulation and reconstruction. In order to aid data collection, I also performed performed Muon Detector and Data Quality shifts in the ATLAS control room. I was a member of the Heavy Neutrino group where I worked closely with other researchers from California, Pennsylvania, Russia, and the UK. Together, we wrote three papers and searched for four possible new physics scenarios yielding heavy neutrinos.I was located in Switzerland from July 2011 - July 2012. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantBrandeis University Aug 2009 - Jul 2011Waltham, MaI taught introductory physics laboratory for both physics majors and non-physics majors. I wrote weekly quizzes and handled any possible equipment failure. In the second year, I was also responsible for ensuring other teaching assistants were prepared to lead their sections.
