An enthusiastic, motivated individual who is keen to help businesses and organisations improve their Sustainable Development and environmental performance by embedding principles and practices into their corporate processes and ethos.My MOD career has spanned the estate (Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO)) and equipment acquisition (Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S)) sectors. Key areas of expertise include:- Sustainable Procurement and Social Value- I contributed to the development of the MOD Sustainable Procurement strategy and drafted guidance on SP for MOD's estate acquisition and commercial community. I developed contract requirements and tendering questions for new estate contracts e.g. DIO's multi-billion pound regional estate contracts. I chaired the DIO SD Working group - to work with representatives of our 8 main estate contracts to improve and standardise SD delivery. I have also implemented Government's Social Value Model in a wide variety of infrastructure contracts.- Delivering Sustainable Development strategies, information hubs, corporate data sets and annual reports, initially for DE&S and latterly for DIO, driving a move from treating SD as a stand-alone topic, to embedding requirements and reporting into corporate processes and tools.- Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment - I drafted MOD's Sustainability Appraisal Handbook, and supported a wide variety of MOD projects in undertaking appraisals to identify SD risks and opportunities and to help embed them into options studies and decision-making.- Developing and delivering presentations and training courses on a variety of aspects of SD, Sustainability Appraisal and Sustainable Procurement- Developing regimes and question sets for Sustainability audits and assurance- Management of staff and teams delivering outputs in the fields of waste management policy, energy efficiency, Environmental Management Systems, Climate Change risk and adaptation, and Environmental Protection.Full Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (MIEMA), and Chartered Environmentalist
