Responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of the annual events calendar for South Devon College alongside the organisation of large scale college events, creative planning of new and adhoc events and coordination of partnership events with key organisational stakeholders. This role involved arranging flights, transfers and visas for all of the students on the trip, planning fundraising events and motivating students to hit fundraising targets, liaising with large companies regarding sponsorship for the trip, researching and advising students on Chinese culture, vaccinations and health and safety, arranging language, culture and history lessons and most importantly meeting with staff and students to ensure the general smooth running on the trip. During the second year of my degree I worked in a voluntary role for READ International who are a charity that collect unwanted and disused school books from all over the country and send them out to schools in Tanzania and Uganda. The role of Project Manager involved recruiting volunteers to collect books, raise money for postage and arrange the sorting and packing of books for transport.
