Welcome to my page; I go by Lou or Louis (he/them). I graduated as valedictorian of Delsea Regional High School, Class of 2014. That fall I enrolled at Vassar College and graduated four years later with a B.A. with honors in Italian Studies (class of 2018). I was immediately accepted into Columbia University's Italian Department as a PhD candidate in Italian Studies. I also enrolled in Columbia's Institute for Comparative Literature and Society (ICLS) certificate program. In October, 2019, I received an M.A. in Italian Studies from Columbia University and in October, 2021, I received an M.Phil. in Italian Studies from Columbia University. My research has primarily been on medieval literature with a secondary focus on the history of science, namely astronomy, astrology, physics, metaphysics, theology, and natural philosophy from ancient Greece to the Italian Renaissance. I have taught several Italian language courses at both the Elementary and Intermediate levels, and regularly tutor students in Italian and English, as well as in writing more generally. My language proficiencies include English, Italian, German, and Latin. My dissertation, which is presently ongoing, is prospectively titled "Dante, Poet of the Stars." In my spare time, I like to write, practice playing the piano, and attend the ballet.
