As a retail assistant, I have to run the store as well as attend to customers while displaying good customer service. Running the store includes tasks such as stock keeping, cleaning, cashiering as well as baking cookies. I was able to gain some knowledge of what was required if one were to open a small business.

I had initially applied as a Safe Entry ambassador at Tan Tock Sent hospital. I had to ensure that visitors entering the hospital were not suffering from Covid-related symptoms and that they completed their Safe Entry. When Covid restrictions were lifted, I was transferred to the role of a ward clerk because Safe Entry ambassadors were no longer needed. Being a ward clerk gave me plenty of insights into the workflow and operations in a hospital. My role was to register, categorize and permit entry for the patient's visitors to enter the ward. A higher level of customer service must come into play here because the visitor's loved ones are under the hospital's care, which is a huge responsibility. It is common to have compromises against the ground rules for visitation. In such cases, the ward clerk is at the center of communication between the visitors, nurses, and ward managers. Hence, communication and understanding are crucial for this role.
