Implemented new business logic operations to support the changing requirements and needs of the staff.Created a custom PDF invoice generation system for transactions (specimen loans and returns) using XML, XSLT, XSL-FO and Apache FOP. Created external documentation suitable for the installation and configuration of the project.Configured and deployed the Filtered Push network demo and related software components (Apache Tomcat, Hadoop and ActiveMQ).Worked on XML processing in Java with SAX and DOM. Enhanced the UI of the Filtered Push web client and created custom JSF widgets for display of data.Used the Java Hibernate Persistence framework for object relational mapping of the data model objects and schema in the MySQL database.Created custom components and enhanced the JSF web UI of the Filtered Push web client.

Maintained and extended the Electronic Field Guide (EFG), a JSP web application, built using the Spring framework, for authoring digital versions of biological field guides.Used JDBC and SQL to edit the database schema to support additional functionality. Managed the Linux server, Tomcat instance and MySQL database that the application was hosted on. Planned and executed data migration from one server to another. Created a portable implementation suitable for demonstration or hosting of a personal local instance or sandboxed EFG using bootstrapped Tomcat. Made and documented changes to the Apache Ant build scripts used to build and deploy to Jetty and Tomcat servers.Responsible for deployment of new releases and migration of the application to Apache Tomcat and MySQL running on a Linux dedicated server.
