During my time at Kingsbridge, I have worked on several PHP & Laravel projects, initially I was tasked with integrating Open GI Transactor API rating engine to support the quote and buy process of the main insurance platform. When I started the project, it was a year behind schedule, however, within my first six month contract the project was completed. While working on the transactor project I was given the opportunity to improve the AWS environment, when I started it was a single VPC with production and testing EC2 instances along with related RDS etc. I created separate VPC’s and migrated the EC2 and RDS instances to the relevant VPC and built docker scripts for the development team. This greatly increases productivity and created a robust and reliable workflow.I also developed the Kingsbridge internal IR35 quote and buy application in VueJS, this makes use of Laravel APIs for rating and quotes, and is hosted in AWS. This project also required the integration other 3rd party API’s such as the UK GOV companies-house, stripe and Slack. In 2021 I took over as scrum master and technical lead, during this time I worked with the project management team and product owners on core deliverables. This included delivering new functionality and bug fixes across ten products, I also attended the global weekly meetings with our US owners to provide updates on progress and report any issues.

Initially developing APIs in AWS to process and report on orders from Veterinary Practices, I then went on to re-develop the NVS-Online portal. This was developed on AWS and is a multi-tenant cloud-based application, the application allows for the management of multiple branches within a practice including staff with associated roles and privileges. It also provides ordering and reporting using the previously developed API’s.The APIs were developed using Slim v3 micro framework and Postgres. The NVS-Online portal was develop using Laravel 5 and MariaDB.

Working on a bespoke PHP social housing management application used extensively throughout local authorities and housing associations. The role involves developing new functionality and APIs to third party systems, along with resolving issues raised through the help desk ticketing system. The application also has a mobile component that is built using JQuery and KnockoutJS, this is used on engineer’s PDAs to enable them to interact with the work scheduled API. I extended this functionality and resolved outstanding issues raised by the client. SVN is being used for version control using the TortoiseSVN plugin for windows. The application is based on a classic LAMP stack hosted on Centos, as I have Linux Admin experience, I also help with server admin, SVN and MySQL updates and branch merges etc.During my contract the company was taken over by Castleton PLC, at this time half the development staff left including the team leader, I was asked to take the team leader position while the company looked to replace the staff. I accepted the team leader role which also included being scrum master during the rest of the development.

The main requirement for this role was to develop PHP based web applications for both internal and external customers. During my time with this company I moved all development from PHP4 to PHP5 and all new database development to use PDO. I also introduced Ajax which I hope will be adopted for new projects. I have developed several applications ranging from a modeling agency to a CRM and business enquiry system. These were all developed with PHP5 using object orientated methodology and MySql database. I initially create the front end using hand coded HTML, javaScript and CSS.Unfortunately my this role ended when C8W ran into financial difficulty.

My responsibilities include designing and developing an access control system which will be used in a secure environment. This is a three tier multi threaded application which I originally started writing in C# and Visual Studio 2003, I later moved the project to Visual Studio 2005. MySql V5 is used for data storage and I made extensive use of stored procedures. The application is divided into several server processes including a TCP client server sub project which uses XML as its communication protocol. One of the main features of the application is that its high encryption level gives it the ability to work on both private and public networks. Part of the project required me to liaise and manage a relationship with a 3rd party supplier.

My duties included managing other members of the team, running projects and developing web and server applications as required to meet business needs. Development tools include Visual Basic, COM+, XML/XHTML/ XSL/XSLT, SQL Server 7/2000, ASP and related technologies. As part of my role I would regularly design database schemas or add new tables to an existing database, this would include creating stored procedures and views etc. I also work along with business analysts to create specifications for new systems and the testing teams once thedevelopment phase was complete.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role involved managing software houses that were developing out sourced projects, the role required both software development and project management. My main duties included working with external software houses to ensure software quality and providing IT solutions for this cutting edge communications company. Development languages used included Java, Visual Basic, ASP and SQL Server.Unfortunately after September 11 the company was forced to down size and centralize in Cambridge.

Working as team leader, managing a team of seven Java developers and developing and maintaining web and desktop applications using Java, MySql and associated technologies. My duties included managing change requests and new developments. Projects included the migrating of a windows based performance management application, to an online application using Java, JSP, Servlets, Java Beans and MySql. Other duties were to set targets and deadlines for the team and arrange training based on the individuals needs.

My main responsibility was to manage a team of 6 developers, with projects ranging from local authority intranets and home shopping sites to Credit Card Validation systems.Using a range of development tools including Java, JSP, Servlets, and Java Beans, VB, ASP, with database’s including SQL Server, MS Access, and MySql as equired. Both Windows and Linux operating systems were used depending on customer requirements.

Responsible for the development and support of an MS-DOS based Patient education Records system for use in pharmacy environments. I also worked on projects to allow hospitals to order products at a ward level, this was achieved through the use of a hand held scanner and was developed in C. I was also required to write and update documentation on a number of systems, these included user requirements as laid out by the business, functional specifications and system test documents. During certain projects I would be required to support and manage teams / resources including the EPOS help desk. It was also my privilege to be part of the AAH project that supplied the Super Drug chain with a new EPOS system. Development languages included C and C++ using MS Visual Studio.

My main responsibility was the maintenance and development of a large scheduling system that had been developed using PCs and an IBM 390 mainframe written in the ‘C’ programming language, I also worked with both DB2 and Oracle 7 database systems including designing database schemas and SQL/Stored Procedures.I was also responsible for developing the call centre application; this was a client server application that was written using Visual Basic and Computer Associates Opal programming language. This project also included designing an oracle and office automation using Visual Basic, the system was advertised on Computer Associates web site when it went live. While in this position I also updated systems to be Y2K compliant British Gaming Technology

To design and develop fruit machine games for the British market using the C programming language in an embedded environment. The development tools used included MS Visual C/C++ V1.5 and Borland Turbo C V3 compilers.

Developing medical databases for use in Airlines, the system was developed using MS DOS and was eventually upgraded to a windows GUI system in 1996. The main customer for this application was British Airways, who use the system to track their in-flight medical cases. This was a home based role.
