As a high school teacher for 4 years, I enjoyed searching for new texts to use in my classroom and creating inclusive and engaging curriculum that was not only fun to make but also fun to teach. I incorporated social-emotional learning, social justice issues, and current events to create a vibrant learning community where students grew both academically and as leaders. While I loved teaching, I knew that there was so much more that I needed to learn to create a more impactful learning environment for students, so I returned to school myself. In my master’s program at King’s College London, I studied mental health policy, law, and ethics, and how we can build better and more equitable community services in the future. For my dissertation, I researched the impact of trauma on our physical and mental health and our societal obligation to create educational and innovative community programs to reduce harm. After graduation, I started a role directly related to my research where I managed the implementation of a public health program within primary care, training clinicians in trauma-informed practice and improving patient access to voluntary services in London. Having gained experience in learning and development, I am motivated to continue to help professionals grow their practice and help frontline services and businesses thrive. Having worked in the social impact sector for 7 years, I am excited to use my strengths in program management, curriculum development, and learning facilitation to build impactful professional development and learning programs and continue to support the growth of current and future leaders.
