Dedicating my time to Zoo Tampa's Animal Nutrition Department widened my knowledge of various animals' diets and what it is like to work for a non-profit organization. Our daily duties include building connections with zookeepers about new diet restrictions per animal and handmaking each diet with specific cutlery skills per species. Interns were able to assist in feeding specific animals ranging from Penguins to White Rhinos. Overall, this job allows me to gain knowledge of over 1000 animals' requirements for survival. No animal can survive without the nutrition team.

Research focuses on the interface between nutrition and reproduction and methods to improve dairy cows' lactation performance, health, and fertility. - Extract blood samples from 30 dairy cows to examine if the cow's diet affects fertility- Guides the cows through the shoots properly to ensure safety and guidance of handling methods- Assist in conducting a liver biopsy to study the effects of the cow's nutrition on its liver- Prepare customized daily meals and supplements for each dairy cow based on specific needs, such as postpartum versus prepartum diet standards- Maintain a clean environment for the cows by flushing out the feces, pushing feed toward the cows, and properly discarding lab equipment

ER/ICU Unit - I was responsible for assisting veterinary technicians in proper patient holding for IV catheter placement and blood draws. I needed to maintain hospital hygiene by cleaning kennels, workstations, and equipment per protocol standards. Anesthesia Unit - I was responsible for assembling and taking apart crash carts in various locations of the anesthesia department. I ensured all equipment was sanitized and put away properly, as well as helped order product that was out of stock.
