About Lisa Shields

Lisa Shields is a veteran strategic communications professional experienced in international media relations, digital marketing, crisis communications, individual and institutional brand building, messaging, and media training. Shields has advised a broad range of public intellectuals, advocates, and artists, on crafting effective communication strategies.She is now Executive Vice President of Access Industries for Strategic Communications. For over 20 years, Shields served as Vice President for Global Communications and Media Relations at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the country’s leading independent, nonpartisan foreign policy think tank, membership organization, and publisher of Foreign Affairs magazine. Prior to joining CFR, Shields worked as a journalist and editorial producer for ABC News, Thirteen/WNET, and the A&E Network. She earned her BA in international affairs from the American University of Paris and her MS from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She is a lifetime member of CFR and serves on the board of directors for Network 20/20, has served on the advisory board for the International Peace Institute's program on Women, Peace & Security, and on American Ballet Theater's marketing task force highlighting women choreographers.
