As Senior Managing Editor on the Kodansha Comics team, I oversaw everything to do with deadlines (including the publishing schedule and special projects) for a 170+ book/year publishing program, as well as acted as the primary liaison between production and editorial. I directly managed members of the editorial team, and made sure everyone on the team has the resources they need to keep our process running smoothly. I also created and adapted our processes to make sure our books were accurate and high-quality, while also freeing up our editors' time to do the best work possible. I kept our client up to date on all projects, including publishing dates and approval status.I continued to edit manga, including titles like Land of the Lustrous, Fire Force, and Sailor Moon Eternal Edition, and was the managing editor on the Eisner-winning Akira 35th Anniversary Box Set. These projects included coordinating multiple art and text assets; hiring, scheduling, and managing freelancers; scheduling and coordinating multiple rounds of art and text approvals; and doing final sign-offs on design, specs, and color, which required going on press checks to ensure color accuracy on press.

I was responsible for the scheduling, production, and editing of a range of titles at Kodansha Comics, including best-sellers like Noragami and Fire Force, literary works like Ichi-F, and classics like The Ghost in the Shell and the Eisner award-winning Akira 35th Anniversary Edition Box Set. I coordinated assets, working with both Japan- and US-based staff to ensure our properties were published to the same exacting standard as the original. I kept style guides and glossaries for all my series, of which I had anywhere from 15-20 at any given time.My goal was to ensure all books are on-time, high quality, and adapted in a way that feels natural to an English-speaking audience while retaining the spirit of the original Japanese. Other duties included hiring and coordinating freelancers, evaluating future titles for publication, sending finalized assets for approval, and organizing extra bonus content for premium and high-profile titles.

I proofread manuscripts for the Yen Press imprint of Hachette Book Group. I adhered to both publisher and series style guides while checking books for inconsistencies and errors. I am also familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style, and used it often in this position.I have proofed over 20 books for Yen Press.

As a QA Freelancer for Wordbank, LLC, I did internal revision on a range of projects using SDL tools like Trados, MultiTerm, and Studio. I checked to make sure the translations were complete and error-free, using client-approved glossaries and style guides to ensure the project met or surpassed client standards.

As a QA Executive, I managed the QA department, liaising with linguists, Project Managers, Terminology, Media, and freelancers to make sure each project would be adequately scheduled and quality-checked to perfection. My QA duties included internal revision, layout checks, technical checks, and consistency checking. I would consult and train when necessary, including updating processes for maximum efficiency and accuracy, as well as providing input on new processes that are tailor-made to Wordbank's clients. I have also worked in the Terminology department, where I helped out with alignment, glossary creation, and glossary management, and in Resource Management, where I would hire and allocate linguists, raise purchase orders, and solve resourcing problems that come up with tricky languages or unique projects.
