Let's get weird. Creatively, my goal is to add a little benevolent chaos into the world. As a content marketer, I'm finding weird ways to engage with my client's customers and clients with good humour, in a way they won't forget. As a music educator, my ambition is to help musicians create music that is interesting, diverse and thought-provoking, then find interesting ways for them to engage with their ideal audience.

    Film Score & Bespoke Music
Freelance Musician Feb 2014 - Present
    Cambridge, United Kingdom
In 2020, between lockdowns, I worked on 2 short films inspired by Shakespeare plays, exploring links to climate change. Bound (Dir. Laura Elmer) and Queen Mab (Dir. Michelle Siu), were both published by Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Working closely with the directors, I used a variety of sound design techniques to enhance their stories. We used a combination of found sounds from the shoot locations, electromagnetic field recordings, voiceover and traditional instruments.Between 2021-2022 I worked on the original score for short, sci-fi horror film Type Til You Bleed. The score used a combination of electronic instruments and experimental sound design techniques such as image sonification. From 2021, I've composed original music for the YouTube channel Peaked Interest. These pieces are often electronic, using a variety of synthesizers and cinematic sound design techniques. Attached is a Peaked Interest video which required me to study and take influence from traditional Russian & Eastern European music.Over the years, I have created music in the form of jingles and stingers for other YouTube channels, independent podcasts, radio stations and BBC Radio shows. One Past (2014), is my first composition credit for which I composed a handful of pieces to fit work created by the main composer.

    Original Music
Freelance Musician Jan 2018 - Present
    Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
In 2018 I released my first album as Blue Alatar. Originally, Blue Alatar music was a blend of modern rock with electronic instruments and cinematic orchestration. Since then I've developed the style to encompass traditional music from around the world, backed by a rock ensemble, occasionally bringing in synthesizers and cinematic sound design. This is best demonstrated by The Elements E.P. (2020). Inspirations include Peatbog Faeries, Ozric Tentacles and The Levellers. I release LoFi, funk and experimental electronic music as The Musical Endeavour. The first release was a collaboration between myself and Si Pettit, attempting to write, record and release an E.P. over a single weekend in 2019. Since then, I've released multiple singles and E.P.s annually. As well as co-hosting The Conversation Hat Podcast, I've also composed a lot of music for the show. In 2021 we released Mixtape Vol. #1, a collection of comedy tracks featured on the show, updated and remastered for commercial release. Musically, these tracks are inspired by They Might Be Giants and Vulfpeck; whilst we draw comedic inspiration from The Mighty Boosh, Flight Of The Conchords and Aunty Donna. Collabavirus was a collaborative charity album I was pleased to contribute to. The project was led by Jay Plent (Scatterchild) and saw contributions from several other Cambridge, London and Manchester musicians.
  • Freelance Musician
    Writer & Journalist
Freelance Musician Jan 2019 - Present
Following my experience running live music events, (as Stabbed Panda) and my relationships with local musicians, in 2012 I was asked to produce a podcast for a local magazine, Cult Media. In addition to the required audio tech I also found myself interviewing local artists and bands. When the Cult Media podcast ceased production we decided to alter the direction of Stabbed Panda so began reviewing indepenent music and interviewing local artists. Stabbed Panda today is a reasonably well known independent music blog, with regular YouTube content featuring up-coming artists. My experience with music journalism at this level allowed me to conduct interviews with personal heroes such as Dan Le Sac, 12Tone Videos and Tantactul, for my own YouTube channel. I've also been able to write about music and audio tech for publications including Ultimate-Guitar, MusicTech and Podcasting Today.

I started teaching guitar whilst still enrolled at Access Creative in 2010, and it was my primary focus until 2014 when I started work at Coleridge School. From 2014 I took on a handful of private students, teaching up to Rockshool Grade 8 and I'm pleased to teach occasional guitar and bass students. In 2021 I become a Steinberg Certified Trainer because of my twice-weekly Cubase livestreams and the benefits these provide to music students and producers of all ages. This allowed me to take private music tech students as well.Having spent 8 years working in music education, with a large catalogue of published music, I was asked to appear on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire with Spanners Ready as a spokesperson for music education and independent producers. I am occasionally asked back to BBC Radio which has led to collaborations with others including YouTube channel Tantacrul.
