I taught in a private school for five years and I became the Principal of that high school in my last year. I love teaching history and leadership, and I hope to be back in the classroom as soon as I can! I enjoy being around high school students and the incredible atmosphere of a high school, and now that I've been in the business world the last three years, I look forward to helping to equip students to reach their dreams!My learning style is very hands on, and that's exactly like how I love to teach. I'm pretty introverted myself and I love to dig deep into the topic at hand. I hope to challenge students in the same way as they learn to ask the big questions and really wrestle with the 'Why?' behind the topics they are learning about. I don't just want to throw facts at my students, but I hope to teach them to ask good questions and to look beneath the surface for why things turn out the way they do in history.I believe that students need to own their learning journey. My job as teacher isn't simply to download information, but instead I'm like a coach who teaches them how to think through the information they are being presented with. Collaboration is vital in the learning environment, and so teaching students to work in teams and to collaborate with those different than themselves is an important part of the learning experience. I love to create student-led discussion groups in class so that the students can really dig deep into a topic. One of my deepest passions in regards to teaching is that students are not just learning academic content, but they are truly learning to become great people. Discipline is to be viewed as restorative, and I want students to feel free to risk and fail in my classroom environment. I hope students learn to communicate well and learn to resolve conflict in my classroom. I love helping students discover their passions the things they love to spend their energy pursuing.I teach because I love watching students come into their own!
