Area Engineering Manager for SaskPower Boundary Dam CO2 Capture project. Owner's Engineer for major EPC contracts, and also managed detailed design for balance of plant scope executed on an EPCM basis. Oversaw civil, structural, mechanical and EI&C design teams for interconnecting ductwork and utility systems, flue gas cooling facilities, water management systems, and various site infrastructure upgrades. Led early studies of process options, and evaluation and selection of the CO2 Capture technology, considering process risk and project economics.

Clients included a barley malting facility, carpet mill, printing operation, paper mill, cement plant, seaweed extract facility, greenhouse facility and a plastic product manufacturer • SaskPower Clean Coal Project, Shand Power Station, SK- Lead Package Engineer for development of EPC specifications for Balance of Plant work for a proposed new-build lignite-fired 300 MWe (near) zero emissions power plant with CO2 capture• Confidential Cogeneration Project, Northern AB- Lead Mechanical Engineer on a cogeneration plant feasibility study in the oil sands; Conceptual design, heat and power cycle analysis, evaluation of boiler and emission control options, and preparation of Basis of Design documentation; Completed estimates for cost savings/revenue and capital and O&M costs to assist client business case development• Cogeneration and District Heating Project, Town of Truro, NS- Lead Mechanical Engineer for a biomass cogen/district energy feasibility study; included analysis of technical options, thermal load assessment, conceptual design, preparation of heat and mass balances• Miscellaneous Projects- Numerous projects for a 25MWe biomass-fired cogeneration plant- Project engineer for feasibility study on waste oil-fired cogeneration for a food supplement manufacturer. Conceptual design, performance assessment, cost estimation and financial analysis- Lead engineer for a detailed feasibility study on conversion of an existing oil-fired boiler to biomass-firing at a NS hardboard plant- Project engineer for study to supplement biomass fuel supply at a large greenhouse with locally available fats, oils and greases. Work included technical and environmental impact assessment, liaison with environmental authorities and a test burn

Biomass Fired Cogeneration Plant, Nova Scotia- Responsible for technical support to operations and maintenance staff,troubleshooting of operational issues, management of capital projects and coordination of various maintenance activities- Engaged in optimization projects involving the plant's wood-fired bubbling fluidized bed boiler, water treatment system and fuel conveying system. Carried multiple projects from the conceptual stage through to construction and commissioning- Turnaround planning / coordination and oversight of equipment inspections and major repairs and overhauls; coordinated performance and emissions testing- Managed a study and test-burn on the utilization of construction and demolition wood as fuel. The work focused on availability, sorting and environmental issues,boiler operations impacts and economics

Coordination of maintenance program at a rubber manufacturing site'scogeneration plant and central cooling water and compressed air facilities- Planned and oversaw several equipment overhauls, including a four weekoutage of a 600Klb/hr oil and gas-fired boiler, and six week shutdowns of a 28MWe steam turbine-generator set and 4 MWe steam turbine-generator set- Initiated capital projects by preparing preliminary design packages and financialassessments, and oversaw contractors during installation and commissioning- Specification and installation of pumphouse traveling water screens, evaluationof a 15 MW steam turbine re-commissioning, expansion of the plant oil analysisand vibration program, and the replacement of a boiler rotary air preheater
